Homework Week of September 14th
Monday - Spelling - Do write a poem with as many of your spelling words as possible. I can't wait to hear them.
Lang. Arts -Do finish P. 40 2,4,14,16,22,24,26, and 30.
Tuesday - Spelling - Do put your works into at least 5 categories (groups). Be sure to also write the words under each heading. You need at least 3 spelling words under each.
example: nouns color words food words prefixes
Wednesday - Spelling - Study your words for test Thursday - write in tub with shaving cream (ask dad first), use magnetic letters, write the sparkle way, chant
Thursday - Science - Do finish labeling water cycle worksheet. The addition of color would be nice.
Friday - Enjoy your weekend!

Monday: Write clues for 10 of your spelling words
Have parents sign your emergency kit wkst. stating that you discussed emergency plans together or made the kit. Due tomorrow.
Tuesday: Do complete science wkst. after reading p.100 - 104. Do find words within spelling words.
Remember, one group did not come to me today (so no hw. for you!)
Wednesday: Do complete science wkst. after reading p.105 and 106. Do write words in special ways: using shaving cream, with magnet letters, using silly string, in rice (dry), with beans (dry), etc.

Hurricane Tracking and Emergency Weather Kit
Please remember to track Hurricane Ike at least two times this weekend (remember, we are having FUN being storm trackers). Also, discuss what preparations you can make to be prepared for power outages and storm related problems at home. Have mom or dad sign the worksheet which discusses our "emergency weather kit" and return it to school on Monday.

What Is A Sentence?
A sentence is a complete thought (can stand alone) and is defined as having subject (noun, pronoun) and predicate (verb) parts.
Declarative Sentences make statements and end with a period (.)
Imperative Sentences give commands and end with a period (.)
Interrogative Sentences ask questions ending with a question mark (?)
Exclamatory Sentences show strong feelings and end with an exclamation point (!)
Two words can make up a simple sentence:
Amber danced.
Johnny sings.
They cried.
